Yeah it's nice isn't it Steve? But there's no way I'd import a new UK bike nowadays.

6 grand is pretty good though for all that. Not worth buying unless you really intend to do a lot of TET, Maroc or similar, because there are hundreds of much better road bikes out there.

On paper the AJP PR7 looks even better than the SWM (although it's the same TE610 engine I think.. ?). The AJP is 165kilos full of fuel. That's more like it.

That AJP looks superb but, I don’t see it in the same customer pool as the new KLR as it’s £2K dearer.

The SWM is roughly the same price as the KLR with much better specs. To me looks like a bike that’s ready for a daily commute all winter and then a trip to Mongolia in the summer.

Read the swm super dual thread on adv rider. Com..... Its a turd.

I do like the pr7 much better than the ccm gp450 and actually has factory support and development..

The klr 650 is for the yanks who know no better.... Hell they still think the Harley is great.

Adv rider can be a good resource but ........... :?
Check out the Australian reviews of the post 2018 SWM superdual X

I’m not saying it’s a competitor to the T7 or AJP but the KLR650 - which is the topic of this thread - and the DR650, which is a competitor to the KLR 650 - which is the topic of this thread.

I had a SWM RS650R before I swapped it for the PR7, mainly because I wanted better suspension, ground clearance and ergos.

In between, I test rode a Superdual and I found very uncomfortable for me (6'3") due to the tank geometry and bizarre seat design.

I guess you pay your money and make your choice.

Just found this vid on how they assemble a PR7:

Interesting to see how manual the process is. Not a robot or production line in sight. Lots of discussion below the vid about whether they should be using far more in the way of grease, loctite and torque wrenches - and a bit of a debate about it. What do you think?

Not sure if this video would put me off buying one or the reverse. It's nice to see a hand-assembled bike, but do you think it looks a bit 'slapdash'?

It's interesting isn't it? If it wasn't for lots of AJP-printed boxes in the background, it could be someone's workshop or a dealership back room. So relaxed. He's even having his sarnie (boccadillo?) while tightening bolts up! Is it too relaxed? Might you not think, as a buyer, that you're going to have to go over all those bolts again yourself as soon as you get home from the showroom?

Probably unwarranted but that bolted together frame with the possibility of fretting of the joints and cracks further down the road puts me off
Time will tell.
