Letting my mind wander, as I consider reducing the fleet from 3 to 2, I found myself considering a Ducati Scrambler as a suitable do it all bike and maybe even a Desert Sled.

So a few technical questions for owners of either:-
Are the spoked wheels designed for tubeless tyres?
What are the timing belt service intervals?
How high is the Sled without mirrors?
Answers to any or all most welcome.

For what it is worth and something to possibly consider with the Desert sled or atleast the one I looked at during the NEC show in 2018? (Changes could have been made) was that the exhaust was situated in a location so that your heel was on it when standing, and I was not the only one on the booth commenting about it. I am a size 9 and that was in trainers not MX boots..

For a brief moment I was taken by the Sled but that was a deal breaker as I was actually going to be using it for a lot of off roading..

1/ you can seal rims for tubless , but they do come with tubes

2/ 15000 mile for first timing belt service

3/ dont know

And never had any boot issues in the 8200 miles of road and off road riding

To answer my own question I took my Himalayan for a trip to a couple of dealers to have a sit on a Scrambler with suspension upgrades. A 2 minute sit in the showroom reminded me of why I didn't like the feel of a mate's bike a couple of years ago which was the distance from seat to footrests was too small and gave me a pain in my knees. A bit disappointed I found a new Ducati Sled in a dealers so went for a look hoping that it might have a bigger seat to footpeg distance, it was a beautiful bike but again after a couple of minutes I had the knee pain.
So I rode back home and decided to recommission my 1200gs which I put back on the road 1st September and I'm loving it. Problem solved, I'm back down to 2 bikes (plus my Wife's) and room to move in the garage.
