Evening all.
Off to Wales around the 8th of October for 2 days and was wondering if someone could suggest a route or two as well as a camp site. I will be travelling from Wokingham
Thanks

Why not try and tie it in with this

I would head out on M4 / A417 up through Cotswolds

How about over the old Severn Bridge, off the M4 and up the Wye Valley via Tintern Abbey to Monmouth. Along the A40 to Abergavenny and up the A465 for short distance to Pandy before taking the unclassified road up over the Gospel Pass to Hay on Wye and then via Glasbury to Erwood on the A470 where there is a lovely tea room built out of old railway carriages on a abandoned railway station. Then a quick blast over the ranges at Epynt to Llandovery (bike-friendly West End cafe in llandovery) and then via Sennybridge (good cafe at the Texaco garage in Sennybridge). Llandovery-Lampeter to the coast via the Teifi valley.
Aberaeron or Newquay are well worth a visit before sticking to the coast road and heading north via Aberytwyth to Machynlleth. Take the Dolgellau Road as far as Cross Foxes and turn onto the Dinas Mawddwy Road before taking the Bwlch-y-Groes mountain road (the highest motorable road in Wales) over to Bala before heading for the Llanberis Pass, doing North Wales and returing via the Horseshoe Pass (popular bikers cafe) to Llangollen.
I would then reverse the route back over Bwlch-y-Groes pass from Bala down to Lake Vyrnwy and head down to Rhayader via Newtown to do the Elan Valley-Cwmystwyth-Devils Bridge-Aberystwyth route.
Follow the coastal road back to Aberaeron and head inland and homeward via Lampeter-Tregaron-Abergwesyn Pass-Llyn Brianne-Llandovery(back to Llandovery after taking a look at the Strata Florida to Abergwesyn Pass track).
From Llandovery another 'must do' road is the A4069 over the Black Mountain to Brynamman.
Touratech is a 20 min ride away if you fancy a coffee and a browse otherwise follow the A4067 northwards up the Swansea Valley back to Sennybridge and the A40 homewards via Abergavenny or if you have time take the Brecon to Merthyr Road (A470) to link up with the A465 back to Abergavenny and home along the A40.
Hope this helps, I am local so know the area reasonably well. Any further advice just ask

Hi
If you do end up heading up through mid wales try using the A483 (Llandrindod to Newtown).
As for N.Wales pretty much any where you ride is good. If you happen to head a little east out of Snowdonia national park there are some lovely B roads heading towards Denbigh and Ruthin but it lacks the dramtic scenery. Also some good B roads just north of Bala.
Ive stayed at Torrent Walk campsite a few times which is next to the Garage/little chief on the Dolgellau road. Good site that allows fires but the ground can be a touch hard (if you do go there camp up on the raised hill bits). Theres a pub i think its called Cwellyn Arms (B4418?) that has camping too...to be honest i've camped at quite a few places but cant remember the names

Did this route in reverse. You'll love it especially Elan Valley

I can recommend the
Wyeside Camp Site at Rhayader
Stayed there a month ago, nice facilities reasonable rates and bike friendly

These 2 places are about a mile apart - I have stayed at both (great area)
I would say if you want to camp stay at one and if you want more luxury stay in the cabins
Check prices if there is a group ... may not be that far apart
Enjoy
