Spent a lot,of time lurking here so decided to register

Since the birth of my little girl I have not been on a bike since and decided this week to look to buying a new Honda nc750x dct

She should hopefully come with panniers topbox and centre stand yet the dealer is saying hand guards are not available

Bit of a idiot when it comes to all this but will some acerbis or bark busters fit

If I’m honest the bike is mainly for commuting on tarmac with a brief trip down a towpath like path each way on the commute

I swear by my Barkbusters (others are available) i had a 28 years gap after getting married in 1976 so your 10 years should be ok.

If you've got the time and money it might be worth going on a Bikesafe road-riding course (quite cheap) and an off-road riding course (rather more expensive). You might not learn a huge amount, but you will no doubt get some useful pointers. You don't need to buy into the whole IAM 'Dayglo Derek' thing (which TBH is an outdated stereotype anyway), but a bit of commentary on your riding might not go amiss after 10 years away.

Will the barkbusters fit any bike and if so are they easy to fit

i read somewhere having to drill the bar weights out to fit them

Hello and welcome from Bristol. I fitted Barkbusters to my CRF250 Rally, there were no bar end weights so it was pretty straightforward, just a case of making sure they don't strike the screen on full lock.

I had over 21 years pause as well, so welcome back.
