Greetings folks,
Just a quick note to let you know that representatives from PDVUG attended the Derbyshire CC Committee meeting, Monday last, at which the Committee accepted the Officers’ Report agreeing that the route which many of us commonly refer to as ‘Excelsior’ should be recorded as a Byway Open to All Traffic.
The route does not actually have a name, as you know, it simply connects between New Road, Eyam, B6521 and the Calver Grindleford B6001.
The ‘opposition’ claimed that the Committee would not be the final arbitrators and that when the route is formally classed as BOAT status they would object, thereby forcing a Public Inquiry. There was some debate about the start date for User Evidence, more of which may be required in the future presuming that a PI will be called. I will let you know more details in due course but that could be many months off yet.
A big "Thank you" to all of you who had already presented User Evidence to DCC.

The point is that the (sole) objector doesn't want anyone using any trail in the Peak District on a motorcycle.
No doubt there will be a PI, and the usual suspects will be peeling onions then weeping into their hankies, and relating the story about the time their butler was run over by a TRF member.

Its all part of the yearly "take one or two BOATS out scheme"> They started taking just a few here and there to reduce the chances of a "nice route of trails all being connected". Over the next couple of years the rest will go the same way to allow the horsey farmer/stablers to increase their prices to the suckers/toffs. Electric trailbike/mountainbikes are at moment , the only way forward but unfortunately I look a right fat old bloke in MTB gear Excelsior was the first trail I was shown by Fred Bolton (e sheff trf) Great and wonderful chap. RIP Fred

Greetings folks, we have recently received notification from DCC that an Objection has been raised against their classifying the carriageway as a BOAT between New Road and Main Road Grindleford. The route is often known colloquially as Excelsior or Blind Lane.
You may recall that a few years back we asked you for User Evidence and thankfully quite a number of folks supported that request, sufficient to swing the balance to our favour. It is now up to DCC to protect their decision but as a safety net it would not harm our case to look for additional UEFs as we might need to offer DCC our support against this vexatious claim. Similarly if you previously replied by email only to the original inquiry then please would you complete the DCC User Evidence Form as emails do not carry the value as the official form.
If you did not reply to the original request but used the route in/on a motor vehicle within the 20 years time frame before 2006 then please would you send one now to;
[email protected]

It looks like a rehearsal for yet more restrictions on travel in town and country.
If you think those expensive ANPR cameras Khan has installed around Greater London are just there to enforce the proposed ULEZ extension, you are wrong.
Ultimately, all travel in Greater London will be by permission of Transport for London. You will be required to 'plan your journey' (ie seek permission to go out) via a TfL portal. This will include walking down the pavement. You will have 'travel credits' rationing the time you can spend on public roads and public transport.
Ken Livingston travelled around London by bus and tube, Boris Johnson wobbled about on a push-bike making 'boris noises' to himself.
Sadiq (Gengis) Khan only goes out in an armoured Range Rover, with another behind carrying his armed security. Even to walk his dog in the local park.
What's he planning that makes him so unpopular?

My understanding was that 'low traffic neighbourhoods' were originally proposed to cut down on health and crime in urban areas and to promote a cleaner lifestyle by people walking or cycling instead of driving. What seems to have happened is this proposition has morphed into a 'soft' restriction on wider travel either by the increase in the ULEZ zone (in London) or into an 'extreme' travel restriction that might be coming down the track, as per Richard Simpson's post below. Either way, it's bad in my opinion. Beyond those two outcomes is the 'ultimate' concept of a '15 minute' city where we are all meant to live, work, shop, and socialize within 15 minutes of where we live so we don't need a vehicle of any description and they can keep an eye on us 24/7. Nobody that I know who lived or still lives in London can genuinely do everything they need to do within 15 minutes of where they live. I used to travel halfway across town to get to work because I couldn't afford to live near where I worked! It's all codswallop theory and not practical. Or is it part of the 'Great Reset' conspiracy... ?

Interestingly, Moss Side in Manchester was a Low Traffic Neighbourhood before the term was invented.
It was a maze of gennels and dead-ends impenetrable to traffic (including police cars).
It formed an ideal environment for vandalism, theft and robbery. A breeding ground for gangs of BMX bandits and safe-havens for drug dealing Surveys of residents found they were more afraid to go out in the day than residents of the rest of Manchester were to go out at night.
There was a need for change. Change came when the stopped-up streets were re-opened to through traffic, and the gennels and passageways done away with. It was easier for police to patrol, and much more difficult for gangs to establish territories. Volumes of passing traffic have a calming effect encouraging people not to loiter around causing trouble.
Moss Side is still not perfect, but it's a lot safer now its a Normal Traffic Neighbourhood.
Clean air won't help you when you get knifed in the lungs.
The LTN of today will be the gangland of tomorrow.
