I suppose we should try to see the bright side....at least he chased them :?:

Didn't go well mind. The Robin Williams 'Stop or I will say stop again' gag springs to mind

a couple of years back, I remember the news of 2 new officers? (I think PCs?) watching a young lad drown in a small lake/pool ... they felt they were not allowed to attempt a `save` as they had not been trained in the appropriate H and S ?

Me too.

It's like the old joke/sketch of the army private saying to his sergeant "I'm not going out there, it's dangerous - people are shooting at me!"

Probably we all make the mistake of believing that the police are there to protect us whereas they are actually there to control us .. . . :)

It just shows how vulnerable our coppers are when criminals have no respect for the uniform.
I don't want to see ALL our police armed, but I wish this officer had been.
He must feel pretty bad that he was the victim of crime whilst on duty, but I'd have no doubt his life was at risk and that he didn't have tools to defend himself then subdue two armed thugs.

Thankfully the officer finished his shift and went home to his family, rather then the mortuary with a kitchen knife in his chest.

I'm surprised this story has attracted so little attention in the mainstream press....it's almost as though they are afraid to acknowledge that areas of the capital city are now beyond the law.
