It's a funny one.
The DRZ400s for sale on here is in my opinion a better bike, it's also being offered for sale for way less money.
But Mr motorbike is a serial polisher and if I wanted an investment rather than something to actually ride and I had an XR400 habit I'd consider purchasing it, especially as it's nicer than johnnyboxer's example.

thanks.. spot on i have motorcycle cleaning OCD ....all my bikes are the same .i once had an xr 600 which wasn't tatty but had been used ...and i loved it ..as i didn't need to worry about scratching or scuffing it..
