I have always fancied a KTM 990 and one is available near me in grey colour with 38,000 miles on it.
I have obviously heard endless horror stories about reliability but are they true?
Any tips on what to look for when I go see the bike at the weekend are greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I'm in exactly the same position. Just left a deposit on an 09 with 21k miles. Had most adventure bikes but never this one

No not true, usually made up by fat old men who heard it once about 15 years ago and are too afraid to move from their tired old tractor to something thats top of its classDiesel Pete wrote:

Lower the sumo guard...two bolts....look under it where the battery is. If the bike has been looked after it will be clean and tidy under there.

They're ugly, heavy, overrated, thirsty, high maintenance,
But man they are fun.
Go for it. They are seriously gaining in popularity again.
Never had any real issues with my 950.

I had one brand new did 40k+ on it lots of off road great bike. Fuel consumption not as bad as people make out. I had the water pump seal fail and a few issues with corroding wiring connection around the battery. Fantastic bike
