I'm having a shuffle around with my vehicle situation, because I have 3 bikes and 1 car and I need 2 cars, so I must say goodbye to my BMW F800GS and downgrade to something a bit cheaper, I've been looking at Kawasaki Versys or the Honda CBF600. The bike will be used for commuting, touring and winter motorcycle rallies so must be a good all rounder etc. Any suggestions please?

We were in Wheels in Peterborough the other day and they had a brand new Suzuki 650 v twin adventure thingie for well under 6K. Mate I was with has the naked road bike version and loves it. Awful lot of bike for the money and as big as you need in all honesty unless you do loads of 2 up work.
I had to admit it ticks all the boxes on the sensibility scale......if you do sensible that is.

I have been looking at the Honda cb500x adventure, you can pick a 13 plate one up for around £3500 with lowish miles on it.from the reports on them they seem to be able to do every thing.if you come into a bit of money afterwards you can bolt on a rally raid kit for about 2 grand.Just my thoughts

cheers tony.

I have a Versys 650 and they are a very good bike if you are not planning any offroading. Otherwise the 650 Vstorm is another ideal choice, if you see a good offer on either of those you won't go far wrong.

The current bargain all rounder has to be the new Yamaha 700 Tracer..really nice ride, load of luggage options, great engine, economical and deals can be had for under £6k new OTR...otherwise, unless going off road, the Kawasaki Versys ( or be brave and go for the engine cloned CF Moto 650MT )

Everytime I change a bike, even if I'm "downgrading" it costs me money
Have a re-think and stick with the GS (thumbs)

+1 for the CB500x.
Comfy, lightweight, and I'm getting fuel economy of about 80mpg.
Great bike

Another vote for the Suzuki V-Strom 650cc, a brilliant tourer and general all rounder..!!
