Hi folks, I've not posted up here for a while, thought I'd share a November ride out on the CRF1000L Africa twin with you all!
I woke this morning to a white frost and a shower of sleety snow, didn't think it would clear up to get the bike out but boy was I wrong! By lunchtime it was blue skies here in the N.E of Scotland so rolled out the Africa for a blast.
I thought I'd pop up to the Lecht, as there was a flurry of snow down my way I thought I'd check out the ski slopes, see if it was time to break out the snowboard! I headed up through Dufftown, fought the urge to take more distillery photos and opted for Balvenie castle, just above the Glenfiddich distillery (said I'd not mention distilleries or whisky! Lol!)

I then headed up past Glenlivet to Tomintoul and onwards to the Lecht. As you can see, there's a light dusting but no snow for snowboarding yet!

Beautiful views in the winter sunshine looking over toward Deeside

Here's a pic of the dash showing the temp did actually get above freezing! It shows 1c!

The ice wasn't thick enough to hold up me and the CRF! Lol!

Here's a view of Corgarff castle

I then headed back down through Tomintoul and down past the Tomintoul distillery to Glenlivet, past Drumin castle, a stronghold of the legendary Wolf of Badenoch and onwards to Aberlour! Home via the Thomas Telford bridge in Craigellachie and home to Elgin.
And finally a shot of the Thomas Telford bridge in Craigellachie.

A cracking ride out on the Honda CRF1000L Africa twin, almost 10k miles and can't fault the bike. No photos of distilleries were taken,,,, although quite a few were mentioned! Lol! Enjoy!

I've skied Cairngorm and the Lecht many years ago, but this yr I'm going to give snowboarding a bash!
It was great to get out on the Africa twin, I'm not running my MT09 over the winter as it's simply not made for that! I do have old Viagra on the road now, supposed to be my winter hack but at 35yrs old seems a shame to wreck it on salty roads!

Hi Bob, it's a marmot! I was given it at a stop on top of the Col d'Iseran many years ago! Been on all my bikes since! Long story, but I was approached by a marmot on the Stelvio pass, it stood up on its back legs and bared it's teeth at me! Been terrified of them ever since! Lol!
