I've always used the original Tourance pattern tyres (not exp or Next) and ride the typical terrain you are talking about, never found them wanting in 50k miles

I have just put on TKC70's
I cannot comment yet from personal opinion- but the reviews with reference to longevity/light off road/tarmac mix do seem good.

Tourances are of course good; but why not try a change?

I have a 2010 (mk3) and am asking for opinions/recommendations/advice.
I am not generally a fast rider (although I do have my moments) as most of my riding is spent on back roads and tracks in my home county of Cornwall (UK) or in Spain/Portugal where, being retired I spend several months each year meandering from one campsite to another. I keep to roads less travelled, predominantly surfaced but often resorting to trails and tracks when the 'blacktop' runs out. Whilst I wouldn't claim to be 'off roading adventure biking' I am on loose gravel, stone, rock or forest trails etc and thus need a tyre with a good tread capable of coping with a variety of surfaces inclined towards tarmac.
I have at present Tourance Next which leave a lot to desire so am looking at Anikee 3, Continental tkc 70, Battlax Adventure 40 or Avon Trailrider.
Any comments/advice would be much appreciated.

+1 for the original Metzeler Tourance.

Always had them on the 1200 GSA and always found them very good.

Have a look at Mitas E07's...got them on my Super Tenere ( same size as GS)

£116 delivered for a pair from tyreleader...excelent in the dry, can handle trails and the consensus they are fine in the wet too( done 500 dry miles so far so not had a chance to check out for myself, but what I've read convinces me they will be fine) B)

Apart from the trail rider I have had all these tyres and I believe they are all good. Unless you are a riding god not many of us push any tyres to the limits so I think you could pick any and be happy with them.
If you are wanting long life though and a very good all rounder I would go for the TKC 70. Great on road and more than capable for gravel tracks but stay away from mud on all of them.

Yes on 1150 gsa I found them as good as tourance's and got 12000 miles out of rear

Just finished an 8000 mile trip on a 1200GSA 2-up with TKC70s - mainly tarmac but also some Alaskan gravel roads - including Dalton Highway, Hatcher Pass, and very wet and slimy Top of the World Highway. I had no problems with them at all on the gravel roads (either wet or dry), but they're not brilliant in mud. Very good on the road but the front gets a bit noisy when it starts to wear.

I changed the rear at 7000 miles with still a couple of mm tread left on the centre line but I'd rather change them early than late. I also put a new front on at 8000 but I suspect I'd have got a couple more thousand miles out of it.
