I had the forks on my "E" sorted by Dr Shox. What a difference; the front was well planted, plush but able to soak up big hits. The best hundred odd quid I've ever spent on a bike.

Make sure whoever you get to do the work knows their stuff though. I've ridden a few bikes that have had the suspension "sorted" or "tuned" and they've been utter shite.

I am very happy to recommend Dr Shox although his communication can be a bit lacking and delivery date might stretch a bit. My mate had both ends of his KTM 450 done around the same time and I think it was the best set up bike I've ever ridden.

S models with adjustable suspension all round (possibly from the E, I think S had from 03 onwards) is actually pretty good. An oil change in the forks and having it set up properly for yourself and the riding you'll be doing certainly wouldn't go amiss.
I remember reading that the Hyperpro stuff for the DRZ worked very well as well (desperately trying to find the source) but I was reminded in looking that Colebatch who did the BAM road/Sibersky Extreme likes Hyperpro too.

Hi Russ it's an early model 2000 , it rides well just wondered if their were improvements to be had , the other DRZ I have has had the front forks done by someone before I got it and does seem to soak up the bumps a bit better , that bike is the same year , just farkling !!!

The early S models don't have rebound adjustment so are a bit more limited for tweaking.

Having said that for trail riding mine worked great with a little bit more plushness than the later/ E model type.

I raced an E and found the stock stuff worked very well, for free :) Often riders have the compression set too firm = hard ride. At around 11 stone I usually have it backed right out, and I like to ride with "enthusiasm" :)
