OK here goes, hoping to go from either Plymouth or Portsmouth to Santander and then across Spain to Collioure France for a couple of days, then working our way North and Home.
Any tips for places to stay or discount codes for the ferry etc would be gratefully recieved.
Looking to book it all asap now I have definately got the time off work ( mid August ). Will be travelling by Bike with my wife on pillion who informs me camping is not on her agenda.
One place I would like to stay again on way home is here http://www.bike-stay.net/france/lodging ... nnnier.php was absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend if in the area.
thanks in advance.

Sounds like a nice trip but shame about the camping. In France the municipal camp sites are great value and generally located in the middle of things. However a lot of places have really nice B&B [chambre d'hote] accommodation which I have used and liked. It does cut down on what you have to carry and to be honest if you are moving place every day camping can lose its gloss.

Enjoy the trip!

The last time I landed in Santander the ferry got in around 7pm so I figured I'd stay nearby & head out the next morning. Booking dot com found me a hotel called "chateau la roca" http://www.chateaularoca.com/m/hotel-overview.html which I can recommend about 10mins from the ferry, secure underground car parking for bikes, there's a local bar/Resturant 5-10mins walk from the hotel & a petrol station next door. The hotel also has a Resturant /bar

We stayed at a place not too far from the port after getting off the Santander boat. Great little place. English couple. Secure bike parking. Worth a look

You could possibly ride around1-2hrs from the ferry before it gets dark then find accomodation, but it depends on how tired you are from the crossing

We recently stopped in Arcachon which had a nice seafront and restaurants. It's also about 10 miles from Europes biggest sand dune which is ok if you are in the area.
