Breakdown cover - policy that covers cars and bikes ?

Post by JonnyBravo »

Hello Peoples -

has anyone got a recent vehicle policy recommendation that covers the driver/rider for breakdown and recovery in his car and his motorbike.

looking at the usual suspects (RAC etc - I think their definition of any vehicle does not include bikes but it could just be poor wording?)

any experience?

thanks

Try startrescue.co.uk

They do driver based policies, and also policies that cover Europe.

In UK - whatever you are driving/riding is covered. Re Europe, you have to specify the vehicle you are taking. I have swapped this easily between my RAV4 and my xchallenge.

Autoaid personal breakdown & recovery..... covers you in any vehicle, inc motorcycles.
Its a pay upfront for breakdowns and claim back. They have a good rep and they're cheap at around £40 p/y.

+1 for Startrescue coming up to my 3rd anniversary with them, never needed them and they keep reducing my premium (£52 for 5 star cover this year). They cover Morocco as standard great to know as I'm going again this year on the bike.

Britannia rescue but you need to upgrade to personal cover, then its you thats covered plus full UK & Euro on a named vehicle for any driver/rider. I have stuck with them for about 30+ years even though they aren't the cheapest mainly as on the few occasions I have used them (and never so far with bikes) the service has been brilliant.

UK only recovery, or UK and Euro recovery?
For UK only try auto aid
For UK and Euro try ADAC mitgliedschaft plus+

+1 for the above. Used them a few times with cars over the last 50 years. Only once with a non repairable puncture on a bike. The agent spent over two hours looking for a rear tyre of the same make, eventually gave up and brought us home from Abergavenny to Suffolk.!
