a mate of mine rides an RT and I don't know of many that can keep up with him cross country, it would be on my list if I was looking at a full dresser along with the Triumph

Was out today for a decent 135 mile bike ride with a mate on his (2008) Honda Varadero 1000cc, wow such a great bike, very deceptive alright, comfortable and mega grunt all day long.
I was on a V-Strom DL1000, a fabulous run out through Central Scotland on dry roads!

A bit of an outlier: Moto Guzzi Norge eight valve. Shaft drive, good sized luggage, comfy ergos, low tech reliability, bullet proof engine. I've had one for five years, a great two up long distance tourer, much more agile than you would expect for everyday usefulness, and a serious looker. Stock suspension is OK, actually rides better fully loaded, and easily upgraded (Wilbers and Matris). A decent value new, and used should be very affordable.

try triumph trophy 1200 before making the decision. a bike not for everyone, but imho it is a very well sorted bike with good handling.
for the rest in the list you need to decide whether you want a sport tourer or full on tourer, as they are a bit different beasts.

1200RT (thumbs) for me, had two of them, last one the SE, with cruise etc.
Great bike for one up or two up touring, great bike in the mountains, handles really well.
Done many 1000's of miles touring in Europe with no problems, great bike.
For long distance mile munching, get the SE with cruise control.
Very comfortable riding position and also for the pillion.

+1 on the KTM 1190 adventure, only 6th time on it and set off on a 3 week Europe tour to see if it will be good for a 2up trip later in the year. Faultless so far (maybe I should finish the trip first).
