Does it take up much packing room? Ive just tried out my camping gear which I replaced and spent 4 days on one of these new self inflating mats. It rolles up to about 5" x 6" and it was really comfy.

They arnt much bigger but when inflated they are like an airbed in the traditional sense.
If folded like when they arrive it fits in the pannier with sleeping bag and the rest.
The down filling compresses but when inflated its forms a good thermal bed.

Lolo we've tested loads of camping mats in Adventure Travel magazine you can view some of the them here

If you really want to save on space and weight then I reckon you'd be fine with a 3/4 length mat, I use them when I'm climbing mountains. I'm 6ft 2in and they stop at my knee.

Agreed.

I had a standard 7 for 5 years, and upgraded to a 9 DLX this year.
