I used to have a f650gs mostly for commuting and I used a Givi E45 top box as it was so damn handy, stuck my laptop bag in there, helmet in there when i got to work, shopping on the way home, no thoughts of extra pannier width. Didn't particularly like the look of it but it was ok.
Now I've got an 800GS and I need luggage. I am still thinking top box for its uses, still commuting but have the option to travel further afield now. But these new Givi's look awful in my opinion and I think on the 800 would look worse. I don't want to spend too much if I can avoid it. Would like a box that has a chance of fitting a helmet. I could spend £150-200 for a Givi Trekker which looks a bit better. Before I do, anyone got any views on what looks ok on an 800GS and might be a another option? I could get one of the newer Givi's for sub £100 but just can't bring myself to.
Any views to help me would be good, thanks!
top box for a 2014 800GS, I'm struggling

The standard black bmw Vario top box is great.
With luck you can pick up the box and mounting plate for £150 on eBay. I think I struck lucky and found a forum member that was selling one just as I needed one.

I've got a Trekker 46? On mine the one with the split lid which replaced old faithful a maxia 55. It takes an adventure style helmet easy enough. I'm away at the moment but could send you a couple of pics over Friday if you want

Hi, I've got the GSA with BMW side boxes. I looked around a fair bit and decided to go for the non BMW top box ..... stacks of room for helmet & more. I made my own plate & fixings. Box was expensive, but what the hell it's my pride & joy & its for doing serious miles on
