I've heard about slow speed snatching and poor fueling at low revs ???

Best budget adventure bike in my book is the TDM 900.
Light, powerful enough for 2 up with camping gear, excellent fuel economy and Yamaha build quality and reliability. Even ok for 'big bike' off roading in Europe - although tyre choice is limited.

They were spurned (the 850 and 900) in this country but proving now to be ahead of their time. You can still get them for very little money although they are slowly gaining in popularity as people start to appreciate how good they are.

All cured with a new ECU. New models already have it, older models can have it replaced under warranty.

Tiger 955 would get my vote, my Daytona 955 is much the same bike in terms of the engine and electronics, it'll be 10 years old this year, I got it 6 or 7 years ago, it's never missed a beat.

Mate (unfortunately lost to a heart attack) had a Sprint ST 955; had it over 10 years, was also faultless.

Triple engines are the best.

V-Strom 1000 you won't go far wrong with either, but on the Suzuki you'll need to look after the paint on the engine, forks and swingarm, plenty of ACF50.

+1 for the TDM, brilliant, under rated bike, loved mine.

From his choices I don't think he's looking at a new bike. Think he's talking about this one
