Secret Santa
Re: Secret Santa
Reading some of the comments on here I realise how lucky I am to be working with people whos' company I enjoy - its not uncommon for 8 to 10 of us to go for drinks after work and yes, we're doing a secret santa this year (thumbs)

The expression you're looking for is :AndyB wrote:My wife always buys a secret santa gift and I never have understood the reasoning behind it
I'm such a miserable bastard that I refuse to go to our company xmas dinner where they pay for the hotel, meal and all booze for the two of us because there are people I work with that I have to be paid to be in the same place as them (thumbs)

Re: Secret Santa
In my thankfully limited experience of the bizarre world of corporate 'enforced fun', these 'Secret Santa' gifts seem to be mostly passive-aggressive digs at the character/appearance of the recipient made by people who are emboldened by the anonymity of the pointless, infantile exercise.vRSG60 wrote:Yes it's that time of year. Only problem is the memo I've just received at work states that this year it will be mandatory and the amount we are to spend will be £25. This will be reimbursed in our wage, minus the tax!
Now I'm struggling to think of items to buy members of my family let alone people I don't like and my reply to the email has been that I have no intention of participating.
yes I'm a miserable twat!
Just tell 'em that you're not doing it - there's bugger-all they can do to force you because that would be an infringement of your human rights amongst many other things.

As most of the staff here are ladies a night out can be fun with a ratio of 16 women to 2 males (thumbs)
Re: Secret Santa
I think the whole thing is a total bore.
Every year for the past 20 years I get the same effin Secret Santa gift.........
I suppose that's one of the downfalls of being self employed!
