5 States of Motorcycle Magic

Found a great video then post it up here. It doesn't have to be about bikes.

5 States of Motorcycle Magic

Post by Travelling Sam »

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together! In this case - most of it! As usual there were a few 'moments' during my trip to the USA in September and October.

Virginia, West Virginia, N&S Carolina & Georgia. 5 States of Motorcycle Magic (thumbs)

I also want to thank Don and Kathy McCoy for making me so welcome at the Hatfield McCoy Inn in Matewan, and for introducing me to some of the amazing riding in their area. The Real McCoy Trails? If any of you get a chance to head this way, don't miss out on it.

And round the worlders David and Emy Woodburn in Ephesus for showing me their Overlanding home and Airhead workshop. There's a story behind the Barnsley Motorwerks name!

South East USA? Yep, motorcycle magic!

Now then... when can I get back?

(Many thanks to Iain Harper for putting this video together for me!)

Thank YOU Sam!
Enjoyed the video, but not sure about the 2 dancers! Blueridge looks brilliant, I've put it on the must do list for America. That USA list is getting rather long now!
Did the Autumn leaves catch you out, causing the off? Easily done.

Hey Steve, :) Got half an hour? It was one of those amazing hospitality trips (thumbs) But seriously I just picked out those 2 because I thought people would like to link up with them too. And of course Iain because I'm far too much of a numpty to have put the video together myself. Note to self - 'Learn'

Ha, I should show the full clip sometime :) A pair of complete nuts! In real life Shawn and Dusty are two of the most respected off road riders in the USA. I'm afraid that moonshine had been involved :)

Blueridge? Spectacular! The road really lives up to its reputation. The Fall is a great time to be there but there are risks...

It was one of those that got me. A long story which I won't bore you with, but literally within a second the visibility went from 40-50m to 2m!

A click of the fingers and I was in very thick fog and a downpour of rain. I couldn't see the next bend, couldn't stop because I'd just overtaken 2 vehicles (if I had 2m visibility...) and when I was in the next bend I couldn't see where it went or how sharp it was.

So I dumped the bike on the grassy verge (too fast to try staying upright on it...) That turned out to be a hell of a decision. 10 minutes later when the fog had gone, my front wheel was about 2m away from a 30m drop! And the bend was tight. Guardian Angel time! :pinch:
