Nature Rally – Charity 'all in one trip' tour
Posted: Tue Jun 14, 2011 8:01 pm
As many of you know, this friday (17th) I set off on my charity attempt at the Nature Rally.
The plan is a circumnavigation of the UK taking in all 20 rally locations with a stop-over at the Horizons Unlimited meeting at Ripley next weekend to breat the journey.
Starting from Somerset I'll initially head south west and pick up the Dartmoor and Exmoor checkpoints before I head north into Wales and beyond. The highlights of the trip will be riding through some of the most spectacular scenery our country has to offer, and meeting new friends on the way (including finally meeting up with some fellow ABRs at Ripley).
Whilst undoubtedly a great tour, the real aim behind undertaking the whole rally in one trip is to raise awareness and sponsorship in aid of Riders for Health. Anyone who follows MotoGP and has been to 'Day of Champions' at the British round will already be familiar with the fantastic work that Riders for Health do in Africa.
With this in mind I'd hoped to raise £1 for each mile of the trip – my current total has reached £912. I've already received a few donations from members of this forum, and my hope is that maybe a few of more of you will feel able to support a fantastic charity and the important work they undertake. I've set up a Just Giving page – it's really easy, and you can even use paypal.
If you see me on my travels or at the Horizons event say hello – you can't miss me, I'll be wearing a t-shirt with a Riders logo on the front and an outline map of the route on the back.
