First stop, Narrow Water castle at Warrenpoint & at the mouth of Carlingford Lough

Followed the coast towards Rostrevor & stopped at this monument, erected in the memory to Major General Ross, famous for burning tbe White House in the USA in 1814

Had read that there was a large WW2 US Airforce base in the area that trained bomber crews & repaired battle weary aircraft, so went looking for building etc. Did not loc.ate any but also read that after the war, when the airbase was closed, the concrete from the runway was used to make walls for the local farmers fields. Sure enough when you look they are everywhere. A couple of pics of the walls & part of the runway

A bit more research required to locate some buildings. Anyway headed home along a road that got a mention in the latest ABR mag
