Co Pilot is a downloadable sat nav app, all the maps of Europe get loaded into the phones memory, no data charges when abroad. All bells and whistles, Bluetooth instructions to your headset.

Phone needs waterproof mount and power supply.

I've used for at least 5 years all over Europe. Free or cheap depending on what sort of functionality you need.

Use Archies for campsites. Me.com for Marocco (lots of detail of obscure Pistes)

ViaMichelin is really good - BUT I can't find a way to use without it using data. Unless of course I am doing it wrong.
