Wrap soft foam around grips and secure each end with electricians sticky tape

When you Google 'grip puppies split' you'll find several threads / posts where bods are reporting that theirs split, too.

Whether these reports represent a one, ten, fifty or ninety nine percent failure rate is not clear, but obviously splits are occurring for some users. One fellow managed to split his putting them one, so user error cannot be entirely ruled out in some cases.

As regards alternatives:

The general considered wisdom in the same and other threads is that foam lagging (as used around some copper pipes, I'm sure you are familiar with it) is an excellent and cheap alternative, when secured with sticky tape or cable ties.

I have minor splits at the ends of mine and superglued them together straight away and seem fine so far....

Mine split after 2 and a half years of use. I have cut the replacements shorter so that there is less chance of my glove catching the end, which is what caused it to split.

on my s10 I use the big thick cruiser foam overgrips I used on my goldwings,
no more splitting no more vibe probs, a lot cheaper, grip heaters still work well through them aswell ,
