Shoei Hornet ds fogging problems

Post by dom501 »

Hi Folks

I have a Shoei Hornet DS, it's a great helmet but a slow speeds it keeps fogging up. This happens even with a pinlock (due to the shape of the visor)

Has anyone come up with a solution to this?

thanks

hello dom 3 of us use them with pinlok fitted, never had a problem with any of them, but you must kleen and fit properly, in 2 years not needed to remove or adjust at all,

Thanks for all the help I'll give the pinlock another go but with the visor being more of a vee shape (I've even tried putting silicon gun oil around the seal). I think I'll go to the motorbike shop tomorrow to see if they've got anyting. I need to get it sorted before I go away.

Didn't get on with the "double glazing" in mine either. Distorts peripheral vision.
Leave a slight gap @ bottom of visor @ slow speeds (thumbs)

Have a Hornet as well, only ever had a fogging problem once, and it was in seriously heavy rain. Other than that never a problem.
Currently an F650GS, DR350 and RV125 in the family stable.

I have used my Hornet through the winter and never had a problem with fogging. It is important to get the pinlock adjusted properly by adjusting the pins. Because of the visor shape, you need a lot of tension on the pinlock to seal it properly. It takes a few goes to get it right. On really cold days. I did find that the pinlock stayed fog free. But, because it is much smaller than the visor you end up with an inch border of fog all the way round the outside. This can reduce your peripheral vision at times.
I have just bought a new Hornet ADV as well. This uses the new Pinlock EVO which eliminates the foggy border problem too. The EVO version of the pinlock is nearly the same size as the visor, so you peripheral vision is retained.
