This my 1988 KLR 650. I plan to start bring it into the 21st century this afternoon. Hoping to have it done by end of Feb.

First up; moose carb kit, moose fuel tap kit, fork seals and rear lift kit.

Any ideas on colour scheme I should go?

Hi Tinytots, Nice klr, I've got an 89 klr model. I must admit I do like some of the klrs which have been painted in military sand colour.

Nice bike, used to have one of the first KLR 600 great bike, but was a bugger to start sometimes as it was kickstart only.

Nice to see a KLR again.
My first big trail bike was a 600 ( leccy start model phew! )
Had 40000 trouble free miles on that one until some toe rag  took a fancy to it.
Good luck with the work I look forward to seeing your progress
Cheers
Hugo

Hi all,

Update on KLR 650.

As you all can see I have started the strip down, and apart from some sort wonky wiring done over the years by people that would struggle with wiring a plug, the big KLR isn't too bad at all.

Jobs completed so far; Carb rebuilt and fitted, calipers rebuilt.
Top Tip: check under fork gaiters when buying a bike!! Check all nuts and bolts, about 30% were were far from tight!
