Army Surplus Stores in the South??

Post by Thedktor »

Do these places exist any more or are what remain just yer regular outdoor shops thats not the real army stuff?

The point - I'm after some new waterproof trousers and my original pair given to me about 15 (!) years ago I still use as they are super-tough for trail riding, but sadly have lost their waterproofness and have a few holes...

I want to try and find some similar - they don't have what I would call the regular shiny outer layer but more a mat fabric type thing, and quite thick, like the thickness of denim.

Gortex inner. Anyway, would be nice to see in the flesh before purchasing.....

There is the big mail order one silvermans I think it called. They do have a shop in London. I've seen an surplus store just outside watford on the a41 on the way up to the m25. Not been in there though.

Its not South exactly, but try my mate Steve - www.hooperssurplus.co.uk - the site is down today for some reason, but his number is +44 (0) 1603 665 585. Based in Norwich but if he wont / cant post what you need I can.

All he sells is direct ex MOD kit and lots of it.

Hope this helps?

There is a small one in Southampton. Opposite the old walls in above bar. But not that good, there is another in New Milton more or less opposite lidl never been in so cant tell you much about it sorry. You will probably have better luck on line.

You'll have to mail order or take a trip to one of the Yorkshire MAG rallies but Johnsons of Leeds are the people to use.

There's Marcruss Stores in Hotwells, Bristol. They have a varied stock and owner seems nice enough :)
