OK- AJ- the vice is a Record Number 24- its like a bloody anvil- I will get photos-ebay is finding 2 at the moment £100 & £50 as a ball park figure...It is classed as an engineers vice & weighs about 50kg!- All working(Ie the quick release clamp)- will get photos as soon as I can!

Im from York & my name is Rod- OK- details on the vice....its FCking heavy!

I have spent the day stripping it down to base metal and recommissioning it!

It's history- it came from the York Railways and was painted over the years with bright red British Rail Red paint(lead, I suspect!)- anyway(mask on)...I have removed all the paint and can confirm it has no cracks/welds or whatever. I have taken the working parts to pieces and re greased fully. It has in the past been used for welding- I have removed the weld splatters and confirm both jaws are free from weld and still contain the cross pattern.
Its now reassembled and ...as you would imagine from a RECORD(Made in England)- runs smoothly- It will not need servicing again for the next year.(minimum)

I intend to respray it back to RECORD Blue, but need to get on a base cote on first.
Im going to be asking £85.00 and would be happy to show it now- in its naked state(base metal)

P.s I have a smaller(much smaller) RECORD- they are excellent vices- If this one is too big for you- I may consider selling my smaller one...but this is overkill for me...its a true engineers vice.

Regards

Rod
