Afternoon all,

I'd like to float the idea of having a rally type thing in Salisbury next year.

I have a site that can take around 200 tents with 24hrs toilets and showers, shops near by and a onsite bar. This site is just outside the city centre and a 5 min ride to the centre. the cost will be around £5 -£10 per tent per night..nothing more.

I would like to have a few ride outs to the plain on the Saturday with different groups doing different things led by people who know the place well. It is a 15-20 min ride to the plain from Salisbury.

This will have to be in August as most of the plain is open then but i will get more info from the MOD next year.

So what do we think? If i get enough takers i'll do some more work on this.

Just my input ..the midlands ABR rally is this month and the south Lymington is in July..

August is a very busy month for Euro hols..BUT the plus points :cheer:

THe lymington Rally base is too far south for trail riders...also it gives the road guys access to the lovely lanes of Wiltshire..

The trails are nearly all big bike friendly on road tyres...unless its a wet month :whistle: ..

Its too far ahead for me to commit myself but even if I dont make it I can post on here some gpx trails for big bikes and enduro`s..hard and easy for others to use..all easily followed..

Shaftesbury Drove...Salisbury plain...south Wilthshire around Devizes and the Fosseway near swindon..

As for plain army manovers these tend nearly always to be at the end of the month to allow for tourist access ..

best of luck..just pic a date and those interested will work round it...maybe a alternative to the ABR south Rally..

I could be interested in this, obviously dates and details dependant.

Sounds like an excellent idea, and (scary thought) why not have it instead of the Lymington rally? Got to mix things up a bit after all it'd be a chance to take in new roads and trails and give davsato the year off. It's still close enough to pull in the same people after all.

Nice idea Mike. I'd like to see a bit more of that area.
For me, this year worked out very well - attended the ABR Midlands event, drove south a bit then did some trails in Wiltshire. But naturally that was mid-week.
Could this work as a mid-week ABR event before or after the Midlands weekend?
