Angling at Ullapool ........ Now sailing from Gairloch.

A Long way off I know, but...........
Just North of Ullapool is the tiny village of Altandhu, where an aquaintance has a very good campsite/pub/restaurant. He also has a small fishing boat and friends with their own boats. So... I propose, for those who are interested, to lead out a relaxed ride north on the Saturday. The ride will more or less follow the short but beautiful scenic route to Lochinver which is described in LWR's "General Area Info" thread in this section. Lochinver has the best pie shop in the kingdom. It will also include an hour or two of boat fishing among the Summer Isles. (weather permitting)
Complete novices are welcome. I would never think of myself as an expert fisherman, I just like the craic and I can heartily recommend this as an adventure to anyone who has never fished before.
For the experts, day tickets for the lochs on the peninsula are available or you could just throw a wedge in off rocks as is your wont.
In the evening we can get our fish cooked at the restaurant or you can bring them back to the site at Ullapool for the pot.
There is not likely to be a charge for the boat but a whip round and a cut of the fish would be polite. You'll catch more mackrel than you can eat in a month anyway.
Again, it's a long way off. but if you are interested let me know here so I can give advanced warning of numbers.
