I keep a mini maglite with me all the time. I've recently changed the head to an LED one. Perfect.

Cheap LED headtorch. No messing about holding it between your teeth if you need both hands

As a chimney sweep I have a vast array of LED torches, all recommended by my mate who's also a chimney sweep, whose hobby is torch collecting and testing. At the moment, the best budget torch for your money that gives and unbelievable beam at 5000 lumens is a Sky Ray King http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skyray-King-3 ... 337f87f772

But, it doesn't take AA or AAA batteries, so what you need is an Ultrafire Cree XML http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1800Lumen-CRE ... 46096ef032

1800 Lumens, takes 3 AAA batteries or 18650 battery

They're 18650 batteries that look similar to AA, but twice the size

I use a Petzl Tikka head torch, I have had it for 10 years and has never let me down.
It did cost me about £28 back then.
Light waterproof and bright on the high setting.

Continuos.
7 hrs on High
40 hrs low
200 hrs flashing

It's one of the best bits of kit I have ever bought ( apart from me leatherman )
