I've just left the ktm camp and got a f800gs. I got it with the intention of packing up off roading and just using it for touring. I'm really liking it. It feels underpowered compared to the 990 which its bound too.The fuel consumption is great. Went away loaded up last week and returned 70mpg. The build quality is great does what its supposed too. The position feels nice standing and sat. The suspension is good on road but wouldn't compare to a ktm off road. Service intervals 6k cost me 150 for the service. I'm totally happy with my choice

best bike ive had for what i wanted to do with it, which included off roading. light, good power, awesome road handling, smooth, felt light and nice off road. wind protection was not great, fuel consumption good. reliable decent bike. does everything that you ask of it and more

Stan,

You have a PM  ;)

Just back from viewing the new 1200GS. I spent more time chatting with a few friends than I did looking at the new bike - says it all really!
That and eating the offered pies and sausage rolls :)
Then took a TDM for a test ride - I'll be keeping the F800GS thank you very much!

Biased!?

Me!?

No - I also own a Honda Africa Twin   ;)

Hi Stan..

I`ve test rode o 2009 model and found it okay ..suspension soft needs attention for serious trail riding..but nothing a few mods couldnt solve..

if they werent so damn expensive I`d have one..great all round bike..some have problems others dont..most of the early model problems with coolant hoses and bearings are now fixed..

less maintenance intensive than a Ktm for sure..
