Highlanders Meet / Ride Out & BBQ Sun 6th March

Post by LargeWayRound »

Highlanders Meet / Ride Out & BBQ (Sunday 6th March 2011)

So I am organizing a day of High Adventure , great roads and Excellent BBQ .

The details are :

Have a coffee and a chat at the hungry highlander cafe. (coffee's are on me, just say XRV or ABR)

SUNDAY 6th MARCH
Meet everyone at Braemar. Hungry Highlander Cafe (AB35 5YP)
This will be a early meet , 10.30am - 11am.

We should be on the road at 11.10am

The trip into Aberdeen will take approximately 2 hours , but this depends on the route (weather wise)
2 routes have been made.

Then have a tour of the surrounding area , terminating at MY Cottage in CoveBay near Aberdeen, we should be starting the BBQ at Approx. 1pm

My wife will be hosting a BBQ , where everyone is welcome to eat my expensive Farm Grown Butchers Burgers, etc .

This will give everyone time to get home before it gets to dark.

The BBQ will go ahead in the weather is poor as we have a huge tarp but weather might play a part in the rideout but we will just have to see.

Also, I will be posting this invite with XRV forum so there hopefully be a mix of people.

Full details of ride out, location will be confirmed closer to the time but we need approx numbers , as its a small cottage.

Please note your interest in attending in this thread .

Attending :

LargeWayRound (Craig)
Outrunner (XRV)(Maybe, Weather Depending)
Boris (XRV)
AfricaJim
Fionaann
Lowflyer (XRV) (Maybe)
RickSkye (XRV) (Maybe / Weather)
Steve T
Raymo (XRV)
Snowedin (XRV) (Maybe)

Hungry Highlander Cafe (Braemar) AB35 5YP (10.30am-11.00am)

If anyone would like my mobile phone number , please PM me.

SteveT has thankfully agreed to be the back marker for the day (Thanks Steve ) , and depending on the numbers turning up , we will activate the second man drop off system.
Anyone who needs info on this please PM or post here , but for sure we will not lose anyone and make sure that everyone is ok with the pace (Iam slow) .
The roads up here are not the best at this time of year, potholes, gravel but I will be going out on at least 2 more recce rideouts to identify the hazards, so if Iam going slower than normal at the front then there is probably a reason.

I will do a pre ride brief in Braemar before we head off ..

Those who are a maybe or you would like to add yourself to this event , please confirm asap .. (Wife (Jenifer) needs numbers).

p.s. Anyone who can not make the ride out but would still like to attend the BBQ, PM me for Address ..

Hi - hope to make it up there for the BBQ and meet you - it'll mean an early start as I think I qualify as a southerner (nr. Dumfries)!! Is there a cheap motel I could stay in nearbye as I may leave coming back until the Monday for a variety of reasons..?
Also let me know what I can bring to help out.
Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian

There is a hotel , 1 min walk from my house (Covebay Hotel) looks like there B%B price is about £65 or so .

Or there is a premier inn , 2 miles south . quite cheap for room only
http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/ABEM ... h?cmp=GLBC

If you stay at the covebay hotel , you are welcome to park the bike in my front garden.

For the day all you require is Yourself and a Puck for sidestand (Grass Parking).

You are also welcome to come to the BBQ only if you do not fancy the ride out, as it is a fair distance for you. I will PM address for you closer to the time, just let me know.

Put you down as a maybe for now ..

Cheers LWR (Craig )

Dear LargeWayRound,

Thank you for the very kind offer of free found following a ride out.

My stomach & me would like to attend both activities, barring 3ft of snow, howling gales and too many lowlanders (say's the Welshman ;) )

At last we are getting it together as the weather shows signs of letting the "sunny riders" get their machines out of the closet

BRING IT ON :)
