KTM 690 LUGGAGE ADVICE

Post by XR400STUPOT »

I am off on a 10 day continental camping trip this year with my KTM 690, so need some luggage sorting out. I have sort of short-listed The Giant loop great basin at £319 (looks expensive), The Wolfman beata plus at £127 and the Kriega adventure overlander at £189 as options. I would prefer the soft type without a frame like the above. I would appreciate it if anyone could offer thier advice or experience of this type of luggage so I hopfully make the right choice.

Cheers

Stu.

The basin is MASSIVE in comparison to the other two, seen the GiantLoop and the Kriega, both look like good pieces of kit, not heard any complaints from the lads that have them. Never seen any wolfman stuff though. No personal experience of any - I use an Ortleib dry bag strapped across the back.

Ive got the same dilema Stu so interested to hear peoples views. As it stands my Husky doesnt have any racks at all to strap things to so also thinking along the throw over type solutions.

The cheap option is a Jofuma bag at £70 odd....

On my 690 I use the Rally Raid pannier racks with Wolfman Expedition soft panniers, plus a Wolfman Expedition duffle bag. All completely waterproof and easy to remove.

One thing you need to consider on your 690 is the fuel filler and easily accessible you'll need to keep it for fuel stops with your kit on.

Stu have had both gl and now have Wolfman. Both have pros and cons, easier to chat than me writing a reply with this phone :-)
Give me a call if/when you want.

Get the normal giant loop and strap a waterproof bag on top of it. Cheaper and works really well.

I would be carefull when loading up the 690 with any luggage without some form of racking system. The lack of a rear subframe and the fact it is the fuel tank means it benefits more than most from the extra support from the attachment to the rear foot rest brackets, unless u want cracking on the outer coating of the tank and sheared tank mountings etc. Another must is the rally-raid products uprated top and bottom tank mountings.

All the luggage options you mentioned are worth consideration an is mearly the amount of stuff u are carrying and personel prefrence..

Good luck on your trip.
