Have you done a runner or similar?
(Wrong forum!)
I have done a runner from several campsites in Switzerland, France and Italy, tho' I prefer stealth camping.
I was in Morocco one trip, in Essaouira, staying at the Hotel des Remparts, very interesting and run down. Good rooftop overlooking the sea. You parked your bike inside.
Anyway I had a movement alarm which I activated when I went out. I did go out and when I got to the street I heard the alarm sounding through the open window high up. I nipped upstairs (3rd floor I think) and found the door still locked, but only one turn, and I did two. One or two things moved in the room. No-one around of course.
Well I never leave valuables in a room so it was OK. And it was Morocco so..
So the day before I left, I bought some fresh sardines (very nice grilled on the harbour there) and made a tiny cut under the crappy mattress and slipped in couple of sardines. One behind a picture frame with a photo of the Haj, and also jammed one under the seat of an old chair. Then with a mole wrench, I crimped the water pipe to the toilet/shower, leaving only a trickle. That room could be a problem to rent for a while.

It may all be true, not disputing that, just wondering what the worth is of putting up a post where you seem to laud vandalism and theft.
