Hi Guys,
Someone posted a piece about the pro's and con's of a MRA Vario screen. Well I bought one for the look of it and mainly the functional aspect that it is supposed to be the best. Well it does not seem to make any difference what position the spoiler is in, and the only time I can get a truly quiet spot is if I crouch down. Any tips.
Cheers

I'm quite a fan of the MRA Varios myself, so bit of a shame to hear you're not getting on
with it/them as well as I have in the past....
What bike is it, and, forgive me for asking, but is your height adding a further dimension?
Put a pic up? That might help too....

Hi,
thanks for your reply. I have a BMW 650GS/twin with a seat modified by Tony Archer (Huddersfield). I am 5'-10". I was thinking that I had seen somewhere that the original MRA screen spoiler could be changed for a higher one. Any tips greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Re: MRA vario screens
I went out on a still day and had runs up and down a nearby motorway between two junctions. I did each run with the screen in a different position and found for me its highest setting was best. I found some difference with buffeting and no difference with noise.

This sounds similar to me.
I have an XL650V and am 5' 8", though with short legs my torso is more like a 'standard' 5' 10" and I cannot get a decent spot for my Vario. I am seriously getting a fixed higher screen.
The interesting thing was that if I stood slightly on the pegs I could get my head into 'clean' air.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Yes screens are always expected to be quiet and smooth but in my experience its only a compromise. Screens are (unless designed by BMW who do it well) inherently noisy and there are many variables like your height and so on./cimbian wrote:

I like MRA as the best of a bad lot.
Cims comment says it all and I've tried this myself and was sickened  at how much better the no screen effect was.

Should have said this before, but Nippy Normans (amongst others) do those little 'add on' bitsGaffer64 wrote:Hi,

that you can clip to your main screen.
Might be worth having a look:
