rukka gear is it worth the money ?looking at the price of the base jacket and pants your looking in the region of £900 to £1000,was thinking about maybe looking on the bay of evil for a good second hand set i know my size because i have try rukka gear on so i wouldn't be buying bling.what are your thoughts

I bought Rukka second hand from fleabay and I am very pleased with the wear waterproofing and general fit. If and when it when it fails I will be buying new from them

However I wont be getting one the top notch suits for close to a grand. I dont like the water out zips and certainly dont like the price

with a second hand one wash it with nikwax cleaner and reproof it. I landed a real bargain but many are going for near to new price so dont get carried away with bidding. Have u considered Klim as you can get a good top and botom for that sort of price or cheaper as well , posobley maybe beter quality than Rukka . :whistle:

not looked at the klim stuff,need to see it first and try it on.was looking at getting the bmw rally stuff but if i changed my bike it wouldn't match,yes and before anyone says it that might sound a bit camp but i just like things to match.

I bought my Rukka Armax jacket second hand on fleabay roughly 3 years ago. It has seen a lot of miles & a 30mph crash since then.

Still going strong, very well made (apart from the winter insert zip which is cheap & nasty considering the price) armour is comfortable & works. 100% waterproof.

Would I buy brand new? Not with my bank account, then again some people spend £1000 on a bottle of wine.

I swear by Rukka. After years of buying bargain gear that doesn't work I bought a Rukka suit which is still going strong and about 10 years old now.

About 7 years ago I bought one made of the CoolMax material and although the jacket has faded in the Alpine Sun it still does the job. I only ever wear a T Shirt underneath during Spring, Summer and Autumn, taking the Thermal Lining out when its hot. Even in winter on the quad I only need a fleece underneath as extra.

Give it a wash every 3 months or so and after it is nearly dry give it 10 minutes in a warm tumble dryer. Apparently the latter re activates the Gortex.

A couple of low speed offs on ice landing on the same shoulder of the older suit has resulted in only a slight bobbling of the outer material and it is still water proof.

I have rukka jkt and trousers. Even in the sale at infinity in York a year ago they were £900. But can't complain about the performance, not a drop of rain has found it's way in. The jkt has just come back for a repair to one of the press studs on the pocket. They come with a 5 year guarantee, not many come with that sort of back up.
Mine is in the wash right now. Warm water wash only, as recommended.

i have the armas suit,i bought it last year ,big money yes, worth it? every penny.rode back from the ullapoole rally last weekend through proper rain ,my wife was pretty wet despite wearing a brand new rainsuit over a bmw goretex textile suit.i was bone dry :laugh:

OK.. what does a £1000 jacket do that my £279 Hein Gericke Cruise GTX jacket doesn't?

Bought in 2007, done about 35,000 miles in it, early this year did a days ride in cold torrential rain, I remained completely dry and warm.

Hasn't needed any repairs/treatment..

Last month spent three weeks in Spain, temp. up in the 30's.. lining out, vents open, stayed reasonably comfortable..(whilst on the move.. hmy: )

In a word, Yes. It is worth it, if you ride year round, aren't bothered about swapping kit every year or two and want the best.
I got a jacket trouser combo for about £500 8 or 9 years ago at the NEC, it is still going strong after perhaps 80,000 miles and 8 or 9 spring/summer/autumn/winters.

Have had cheapo stuff before and it was basically disposable, a new jacket and kex every yr or two, not an issue when the suit costs £100 from BMF, Peterborough.
If you can afford it, see what fits well and suits you and buy it...but maybe via Germany on louis.de or one of the other mail order places...save yourself a few hundred quid
