Ride out - Sunday 21st October 2012 - Severn Estuary and the Cotswolds

Post by [email protected] »

After another great ride out in Wales this past weekend I thought I'd map out another route but in a different direction this time. Heading South, South-West down the north side of the Severn Estuary then over the bridge and back up the south side followed by a ride through the Cotswolds via Stroud and finishing in Stratford upon Avon.
Date/time: Sunday 21st October, meet at 08:45 for 09:00 departure.
Route: Strensham - Lydney - Chepstow - Stroud - Cirencester - Burford - Bourton on the Water - Stow on the Wold - Chipping Norton - Shipston on Stour - Stratford Upon Avon (approx 150 miles).
Meeting point: M5 Strensham Services (southbound between junctions 7 and 8) BP garage forecourt
As before, all welcome but bimble mode will be the form. Speedheads need not apply :)

Garmin GPS route attached (please download if you can as I really don't want to lead another ride out from start to finish).

In conjunction with UKGSer.com & F650.co.uk forum users.

Good to hear Dave. I must admit some of the lanes we did yesterday would have been very interesting two up. I've planned the next one to have fewer "green lanes".
We had six bikes out yesterday. They were all BM's so it'll be good to have your Yam for diversities sake. :)

Hi,

Do you have an exact post code for a starting point?
And is it OK to promote the ride on different forums?

BTW: Is it 125cc compatible?

Cheers
Kris

Hi Kris
Sorry about the delay answering your post but am currently bimbling around the Isle of Man on my bike and am not online as much as usual.

I Googled Strensham services and came up with this: WR8 0BZ

With regard to promoting it on other forums, just bear in mind that the common theme with our merry little band of bikers is Adventure bikes so as long as the forums are so orientated then it's fine by me. It's already on F650.co.uk and UKGSer.com.

As far as being 125 compatible, of the six bikes that turned out for the last jolly, my F650GS was one of the two smallest. We had 2 x F650GS, 1 x F800GS, 2 x R1150GS and a R1200GS Rallye. While we profess to being bimblers , on occasion the bigger beemers are prone to opening up a bit and us guys on the F650s really have to push it to keep up. Though these spurts are rare It's your call on whether you want to give it a go. I'm sure the guys will take it easy if they see you struggling.

Cheers,
Tony

Why do you need a postcode for the filling station at a motorway services?

Are you going to write to them?

Hi Tony,

Thank you for coming back to me.
I asked for details just to let other people know about the details of the ride and bike restrictions.

It would be awkward if somebody turned up on a bike completely not suitable for a ride.

Best Regards
Kris
