YAMAHA XT660Z FUEL MOD

Post by XR400STUPOT »

Hello, I have heard it mentioned on here somewhere that the Yamaha XT660z fuel mod can be made up with a few inexpensive components from Maplins. Does anyone have the details of what is needed and a guide to fitting. Thanks. Stu.

Thanks Martin. I have had a look but all I can seem to find is them telling you to buy the Kev mod from him. Maybe I am not looking properly, any links?

Hi Stu,

Give Yamart a PM, I know he has the Mod fitted and will tell you all about it.

Go into search and find him out.

Cheers

Hello Tone, already spoke with Yamart, he can not find the link he used so I am still looking. Closely guarded secret this one.
Cheers.

In short...... go to maplin. buy 3kohm pot. buy little black box. little bit of elec wire. break into wire going to temperature sensor on lhs of airbox. set to about half way. job done.

you need to go to the mod list after joining the site ie pay £10 to get full access or buy one from the site. note - guide on site is for x modle i think so it says 1kohm pot but tenere needs a 3k pot

All it does is trick the air temp sensor in the air box into thinking the bike is running cooler than it is therefore allowing you to richen the mixture ,i bought a "KEV" mod , just didn"t want to take the chance of F>>kin up the fuel injection system or electronic components .

Thanks redbikejohn. Will get a 3K omh pot and wire it in. Rode a 660z Ten recently with D-Cat pipe, snorkel removed from air box and fuel mod, this seemed smoother and quicker that mine at lower revs. Mine has a pair of MTC cans on, (makes it pop and bang a bit on overun) have just removed air box snorkel,(noticed an improvment) was hoping fuel mod would smooth it out add a bit more fuel with the throttle shut and stop the poping. Will try it out. Cheers Stu.
