I'm sure Su from Motoaventure wouldn't mind me knicking one of their images for this thread. Check this out by clicking the image - riding the dunes in Morocco. North Africa here I come......

Absolutely jaw-dropping.

If it's the area of Morocco I'm thinking of then me and a couple of mates hiked through it a few years back and would sleep atop the dunes most evenings. One night we wolk up gagging with sand filling our mouths and a roaring noise in our ears. We were in a sand storm, or we were until we stood up and found the storm stopped at about knee height. Very odd but trying to sleep standing up was even odder.

Each night we would bet on who would have the most scorpion tracks leading up and over them in the morning. I kid you not, there would be scorpion tracks all over the place (it could have been just one hyper active beast) and some would finish where we were sleeping and start again over the other side. Fortunately not once did we get stung.

Morocco is a fantastic county and one I've visited many times so if anyone is looking for advice on the place just ask.

Alun , if you get some spare time read through this , my mate Duncan Miller AKA "Righanger" on the KTM forum. His report on his solo trip to Africa earlier this year, brilliant stuff , and in my opinion, even in modern times more than a little brave.

And he is already planning another - his 3rd . Some great pics here , he had a 3 day dunebusting session during his trip with some of the rental outfits that are based there.

Brilliant stuff Jack, you must ask him to pop along here. I've hiked and climbed all over Morocco (including standing on the top of those big snowy lumps in some of your mates pics) but never once have I biked the country. That has got to change and soon.

I'm not sure if you know this but I was off to Timbuktu this Jan just gone until a close family member became seriously ill and I had to call it off - that report has got me in the zone again.

Yes I've text him already and told him to get his butt in here, he would be an asset !!

He works in the North Sea (hence his handle "righanger") he is a rope access maintenance sparkie , so even his job is an everyday adventure.

By all means post more images in this thread but you'll find it a lot easier to go to your profile and create a gallery. You can upload as many as you like there quick and easy and link to it from here.
