Top Boxes

The top box that came with the Tiger is too small to take a single lid and pretty bloody useless for touring. I don't want to spend a fortune on getting a new one so has anyone looked into buying good value top boxes recently and got any recommendations? My other criteria is that it'll be big enough for two full face lids for taking the Mrs out when I'm back home.

I really don't like what top boxes do to the asthetics of a motorbike , but i find life difficult without one. IMHO the best (functional) topboxes must be at least 45 litres and the odd oval shapes ones - like Givi. Regular (boxy) adventure types are hopeless.

I currently have the KTM branded boxy Hepco and Becker and it holds things fine , but when the basics are in there - toolkit, camera etc there is not enough room to store the helmet when you stop for a stroll/pee/coffee/all of the above !!. I had a larger Honda branded one (made by Givi I think) fitted to the old Transalp and it was a much more practicle proposition.

As far as cost is concerned - I think it's pretty much - pay your money and take your choice - Givi are well made but seem quite expensive, I saw some Kappa (Knappa? not sure of the spelling) ones recently that looked the right proportions to be useful but a wee bit cheeper looking construction than Givi. Might be worth a checkout ?
