We camped in the middle part on full pitch , sorry if we made to much
noise! We had a small group opposite. They were very social and all the better for it. Can't see why everyone pitch right on top of each other? To the two guys who camped next to us snored like a pig, but best of all were the early morning alarms ( farts) . then the guy on the phone to his wife love you. All in all a great time just more spread out next time. Did you hear the newly weds oh yes yes get it there !!!!!

But as always the devil is in the detail - Llavorsi is in the middle of the Parc Natural d'Alt Pirineu, where almost all of the trails are prohibited to anyone who isn't a resident, so just about any organised biker rally is totally illegal - I name no names - which is one reason why I won't go anywhere near that area for the HISS. The other being that the trails there are a bit boring as they are so short.

So you really do have to check you facts before sticking you oar in my friend.

Hi Simon,

I don't quite understand this, I have been based in Llavorsi and Sort many times and have ridden countless trails in that area. I have come across the rangers in their Suzuki Jeeps more than once and haven't had any problem, in fact I found them to be most helpful and never have they told us that we shouldn't be riding there.

I also have never found it to be boring or the trails too short?

Yours in confusion?
Hi Bob,

No surprise you're confused - me too! - but for the fact that I always check the details, for which you need a working knowledge of Catalan.

Here are the general regulations, in English, and as you can see it's pretty standard for Catalonia and fits exactly with the numerous times I've posted here before, on my blog and especially in te written guides that the HISSers get.

But note all of the links under the rules to .pdf files. All of these pertain to the various municipalities that lie within the park, all are in Catalan and all are minutely detailed. In short they list entire categories of trails, paths, etc. where access is for locals only, by that I mean people who are registered as their primary residence rather than second home owners from Barcelona, etc., and in some cases they have to have agricultural work to attend to as well.

I've no doubt that even if you strayed onto one of these by accident the local forest rangers would be über tolerant as part of the remit of the Parc is to attract visitors - and on authorised trails motor access is actively encouraged - but from my perspective it's just too complicated to distinguish and then map the authorised from the prohibited trails in that area.

Regarding the trails being boring, I find hat there are just too many villages and sections of asphalt for my taste - not a big deal really and the scenery is spectacular too :)

Cheers

Simon

Cost is not an obstacle if Al is able to accommodate B)

I deliberately avoided this thread because I couldn't make it, especially after had a fabulous time @ Aragon in May this year. It would have been good to catch up with WillS, Steve, Bimbler, etc. I've just had chance to read the thread in it's entirety, blimey there the start of a Hollywood blockbuster. Keep up the sterling work Simon & Polly
