Fort William also very windy. The pass of the cattle plain scary.

Shame you didn't get away mate, but I don't blame you. Very hardcore weather.
Yikes! Looking at the rotten weather now - I was starting to kick myself for wimping out, but now I'm glad...

I hope you had a great time regardless (thumbs)

The forecast looks bad for this weekend, but Sunday / Monday looks to be okay, so fingers, toes and everything else crossed.
Are we there yet?

I was due to be going to a rally today, but a friend called me this morning and said his car was almost blown off the road. Instead I am having a day at home and going tomorrow instead. I'm getting too old to wrestle a big bike in these winds, or I'm getting soft. Not sure which but its definitely not getting sensible :)

Hi Optomisery,

I took my YBR 125 all over the UK solo camping on several trips.
I live near Oxford and went to Wales, Dorset, Suffolk, Yorkshire and Kent.
After a few trips, you tend to work out what stuff you actually need and what you can leave behind.

Usually, however, when you leave something behind... that's when you need it the most!

I had a pair of Oxford 'First-time' textile panniers which fitted the bike really well, and a 40l HELD dry bag across the pillion and panniers was just enough for me.

Sleeping bag, tent and clothes went in the dry bag, everything else stuffed in the panniers.
Finally, a tiny little rucksack/day pack for when you're off the bike for a day out.

My main rule for summer travelling is look after your feet:

Trainers to get into when you've got sick of wearing bike boots all day.
Flip flops to get into when you've got sick of wearing trainers all day.

My family all live in Edinburgh and Aberdeen now, so I'm hoping to use that as a base for some summer camping in Scotland.

Let me know if you find some good campsites and roads in the West of Scotland.

Have fun!
I'm off on a 3 month solo trip of Europe. Can i pitch a tent in your garden? Or can you help me find interesting things to see?
