Have a look on pepipoo, I took the chance and avoided 3pts and a fine several years ago, as did a friend of mine with a slightly different case some months later. I would however expect the authorities to be a bit sharper now.

Whilst unjust, unfair and dishonest behaviour by the police and other camera operators (etc) ought to be challenged, I can't help but think these (pepipoo) types of forums/sites also offer support for people who don't deserve it and ought to be prosecuted. I just took a look and the first message I read from someone asking (effectively) how he could get away with something starts "Back in October 2015 I was in a queue of traffic and was caught by a motorbike policeman using my phone, well i was reading a group message, i wasn't typing or calling." Poor man, we must help him get away with it, so he can continue to drive free of any responsibility to other road users, especially motorcyclists....

Not enough witnesses

If the speeding charge was brought through an eye-witness account rather than by record from a camera or speed gun, there must be at least two witnesses. One witness alone is not enough for a speeding charge.

Nonsense..I spent 30 yrs prosecuting people ...single witness supported by technical means equals ample evidence to prosecute ...

Yes I did...took a lot of arseholes out of circulation...nearly as rewarding as killing innocent civilians in an illegal war ....did you get a medal for that ???

I have never killed an innocent civilian, to my knowledge, but I wonder how many "arseholes you took out of circulation" are reading this ??

To your knowledge ...I wonder how that stacks up to the evidence of the 100s of thousands killed because you were just following orders...if anyone reading this was an arsehole that I took out of circulation then I'm happy for them to know that I never prosecuted anyone that didn't deserve it...if they don't like it tough....you know, if you can't do the time etc etc....

To be fair Gedge, whether they deserved it or not was a matter for the courts, the police's job is to report the crime and provide the evidence.

i am sick of reporting the knob on the trial bike with no helmet that rides up and down stockport road on the back wheel, up the kerb nearly punting a pram into the road when cutting through on red,

my rather fast motion at early doors on the motorway with no traffic makes me an arsole then so be it. must of been nice doing real police work, while where at it i was a witness to a shooting a few years ago on the same section of road and plod did not even want my statement, must of been to busy with the camera

Whether or not you are an arsehole doesn't depend upon whether you were speeding, but by whether or not you were an arsehole...its an easy concept but as you are deliberately choosing to misinterpret what I wrote I doubt its a concept you will grasp...

think you need to get a grip of yerself, its you who are implying that speeders are arseholes, read yer own thread,

1. I never said everyone I prosecuted was an arsehole
2. Not everyone I prosecuted was for speeding
3. The arseholes I did prosecute all deserved what they got

Interesting dilemna. Faced with a red light that won't change, what does the Highway Code or Road Traffic Act say about what to do?

Genuine question, by the way, in the light (no pun intended) of your bad experience.

Hi, That is a very good question, I to would like to know a definitive answer.

I would have thought that by stopping at the red signal light and not crossing over the solid white line road marking, that in itself would establish that you have stopped as required and are waiting for the light to give a clear green signal to proceed. However, if the light is not functioning, what do you do? Based on my experience, you sit there blocking the road until hell freezes over. Or, do as I did and move your vehicle to enable the backed up traffic to clear?

I must admit that I have been tempted to repeat the situation to see if the outcome would be the same. But this time I would refuse to move over the white line and through the red light. Thus causing a traffic hold up. Then let the police come along to sort out the mess. The reason that I would not do this would be that, firstly it would certainly inconvenience other drivers and secondly, that it could possibly cause some innocent party to have an accident in the traffic jam.

There was until recently a set of traffic lights under a railway bridge near us that had a sign on them saying to call the police if they weren't working.A new road now so no longer used.
Not that I would bother,I'm such a rebel I'll even go through temporary red lights if there is no one working and I can see there isn't anyone on the other side. :whistle:

Agreed, but what l learned was that there were other options rather than to follow the sausage machine, which also placed obligations on others to fulfil their part in bringing a case. Unfortunately they either chose not to pursue the case, or were drowned by their own beaurocrasy that nothing came of it. Similarly, my friend took the maximum time to respond to the requests from the authorities, which ultimately led to his case timing out.

Allowing the thread to wander even further off course...
Earlier this week I was stopped by the Austrian rozzers for crossing a solid white line whilst overtaking. I accepted the 35 Euro fine and carried on. Later on reviewing the footage from a camera mounted to the bike following me it transpired that I did not cross the line, but in fact got back into my lane just before.
Should I drive back to Austria and fight this gross miscarriage of justice? Or should I accept that I got away with the hours of illegal speeding and filtering that I might have done whilst away?

That's a bit like the 'career criminals' view of 'doing a bit of time'...i.e. a few months at her majesty's pleasure every few years is worth it for all the other misdemeanours :laugh: .
