Judging by the contents of that fridge it's only a matter of time before you two take up bopping to Jane Fonda vids.

Don't lose too much lads, or you'll have to carry ballast to reach the floor.

We just had some really good news.

We have been waiting for the phone to ring like expectant fathers in our motel room. The bikes are in for service and Mark has had an oil leak on the final drive for the last 3000 miles or so, not a huge leak and no grating noises.

Anyway, the dealer has just rung to say that the problem is with the seal to the final drive which has given out and a replacement is on its way from Seattle within the next hour and it is not a huge cost to repair PHEW !!!

We can rest easy now. Perhaps open a bottle of wine to celebrate ??? NO - I'm still in recovery mode from the last dose.

Bikes back from service - it was Mark's final drive pinion seal that had gone. They said that the rear boot wss full of transmission oil so our decision to have a service at the dealer before shipping has turned out to be a good bit of planning. It hurt when we paid the bill - $2,400 (that's around £1,500) but that did include 8 tyres (4 each - 1 set of Tourances changed and a set of TKC 80's to go on the back ready for Mongolia).

I still love that Ural Sidecar set up - saw it again today and it is so quirky - a bit like me - the model is a Gear Up and it is 2 wheel drive.

As Martin has said we have returned from BMW Southsound a few thousand dollars lighter, but i am sure this will pay dividends when we get to the wild side.... The only other concern i have is that the new ohlin shock on the rear has some oil splatter around the stem, not sure if this came from the drive oil leak or a further problem to solve i shall be keeping an eye on that and have asked for advice from the UK.
