Anyone going on Sunday?
"The trails of the world be countless, and most of the trails be tried.

You tread on the heels of many, till you come where the ways divide.

And one lies safe in the sunlight, and the other is dreary and wan, Yet you look aslant at the Lone Trail, and the Lone Trail lures you on....

....Bid good-bye to sweetheart, bid goodbye to friend, The Lone Trail, the Lone Trail, follow to the end.

Tarry not, and fear not, chosen of the true;

Lover of the Lone Trail, The Lone Trail waits for you"

went today, seemed busy but i though it was a bit padded out with too many "have a go" tracks taking up the space.
adv bikes wise, (if you can call them that) was quite impressed was the kawasaki versys1000 and i expected to hate it, while being completely underwhelmed by the 1200 triumph, looked unfinished to me, triumphs always have millions of bits and bolt heads hanging off to me. i would rather have the trak T-800 diesel bike i think, and that looks unfinished too!

I couldn't get any where near the truimph stand.....was jam packed all day!! not that im bothered...doesnt interest me. Was to busy buying loads of goodies and drooling over things that i'll never be able to afford (like the fully kitted machines on the touratech stand....oh,and the leggy birds in cat suits ;) ).

It’s a pity that almost all ‘adventure bikes’ are now being squarely aimed at the casual user who has no really intention of going trail riding or doing any proper off road type riding. I shouldn’t be surprised really as I’m sure the market research guys have done their homework and found that most of the big adventure bikes never get muddy. So we are left with so called adventure bikes with cast wheels, massive engines, side mounted radiators etc etc ……… This is pure adventure styling only, not the real thing. That’s not to say they are not good bikes in the own right, I’m sure they are, but surely they should be called something along the lines of ‘rural touring bikes’?
All the Japanese manufactures have done is marginally re-styled their road bikes and called them adventure bikes, and they are all pretty ugly too in my opinion.

Discuss – in another thread maybe?

Not that much different from last year to be honest.
Especially the dodgy corner of Wolverhampton Market selling all kinds of tat!

The Triumph 1200 looked very cheap. Not very impressed with the materials used.
It looked like it would fall apart after the first speed hump on Tesco's car park ;)

I think I'll give it a miss next year.

Had a ride to the show on sunday morning on my own as my wife had to work, bit of a wet blustery ride in the morning but good to be out on the bike. Enjoyed the show but as always its soo crowded at the w/ends (couldn't get time off in the week) so just ended up getting dragged round in the masses. Couldn't get that near the new Triumph, but wasn't that impressed with it to be honest, the plastic luggage box's look particulary badly made (i'm not a Triumph hater as i had an earlier Tiger and it was a good bike)though im sure to it'll go well and be good on the road. It was good to see and chat to Sam Manicom on the travel dri stand, and his book sales looked to be going well..also good to see copys of the magazine on travel dri and the touratech stands as well. I can't say i use my GS offroad, or do much other than easy green lanes on my XT either, i don't have the skill or the wallet to deal with the damage costs,..ha ha..its a rural tourer i've got now, not an adventure bike..i'd only just got used to it being called a tupperware pony from another forum..i'm so confused :)
Chaos is the only camouflage that incompetence needs to operate at full capacity.

I dunno where that road goes, might as well go take a look anyway there's no where else i need to be right now.
