E.D.C Morocco 2016: On/Off road free guided open invite

Just checkng in,.... We all ffinished the Merzouga to Zagora piste with the only incident, thankfully being a puncture. In the forty minutes taken to repair it, three vvehicles and a moped checked to see if all was well.

Keeping it in context I'd iimagine if one had the same problem green laning in Wales on a weekday in October there would be less traffic. I'd hate to think how long one would have to wait in the freezing cold if something more sinister occurred.

The puncture repair was carried out as the rest of us stood by idyly observing and proferring opinions as to how it was being done iincorrectly,with a suitable amount of pointing along with pictures being taken.

After completing the relevant incident report forms and after the health and safety debriefing, as stated, we carried on to finish the trail.

The final report concluded that had it not been for the riders backgrounds of being a teacher, cabinet maker, office worker, cameraman and landscape gardener that they would not have made it out alive.

Given that's it's WIBO who has done this sort of thing on an annual basis and I'm guessing he is as good a guy as any to lead a group plus everyone has to take responsibility for thier own safety thier own fitness and thier own health.

It's the group leaders responsibility to ensure that those coming are fit and healthy enough to come in the first instance. It's not a case of everyone takes care of themselves, that's not at all acceptable. Nor is it acceptable to say everyone is responsible for their own safety. The leader is responsible for everything, and in law, even though the trip is in morocco, and even though its not a paid for trip, the leader (in this case wibo) would absolutely be on the hook if there was a drama in European Law and negligence was proved.

With respect, you've picked out a particular section of the whole thread after two months to critique....I wonder why you haven't mentioned this before, ie two months ago....you've obviously been scanning through, once the thread popped up to the top of the forum, getting annoyed for some reason unbeknown, and then finally posting.....mmmm...how bizarre ...others who see this will no doubt come to the same conclusion.

Others will see the thread for what it is.....an open invite to assist rather than an opportunity to any others to lambast or maybe it's called 'highlighting' these days :laugh: ......It should be noted there has only been one person in that mind set out of all who have responded. This says more about that person and who they are than any direct opinion required to be proffered up. I see the UK KTM forum with similar posts....maybe we should all become like it is in Jo Momma in Adv Rider to suit....?


I find that there are 'some' people out there who have ridden Maroc (or other far away places like Mongolia, Russia or South America )and she or he like to extol the virtues of how hard core it is for she or he to have made it there and back alive...almost as if scaring people into the fact that only certain people can do it, but if you want to do it you have to do it with them.

The same she or he like to get off on how big it makes them look to others and she or he derive a certain kudus in their own mind thinking they're the data base of all that goes on relative to the places ridden.

There are some riders out there like to encourage others to leave their comfort zone and use their moto for what it was designed for...to aid and show others its possible and to take back with them a great experience and memories to have. Memories of the adventure that they themselves decided to take.

How to Blame; a users guide


When the next group of riders calls at your house on a particular day(or to ride over a period of days either at home or Europe....from 1km to 1000's )and asks you to join them in that ride out to e.g. mountains, or to 'Starbucks'...make sure you ask who is in charge of the afternoons route, so if you fall off at the back of the line you can blame them. Of course if you have a heart attack whilst using the free wifi in 'Starbucks' then you can blame them too. It's not your fault after all that you eat to much fast food or smoke too much.

Of course then there is the idea of every rider taking it in turns to lead every hour or so, so that if another rider falls off or happens to e.g. have a heart attack then there is always all of the group to blame.....or what if the leader has a heart attack or falls off..then the leader can blame all of the group for being there too....


What about joining a group of other riders unbeknown after arriving...a chance meeting of like minded riders who accompany each other.......maybe they can be blamed too?


What if there is no leader...what if we all just decide to go to a certain place together?

What if we all space out far enough so that we're not in a group and we are just random riders following each other?


What if I just stay at home and look at my moto lol :laugh:


ABR....two choices ....What if I stay an Armchair Bike Rider instead of an Adventure Bike Rider, exploring?





Getting back to the real problem of tyre transport..Roger has just cut it in two and sellotaped it to his panniers....we'll superglue it together upon arrival. Sorted!!!

Hi, I am resident in the south-west of France (Ariege) close to Andorra and the spanish border, are you anywhere near? I ride local trails in Andorra and Catalunya, usually alone, a companion would be quite handy sometimes, just in case!
