How I wish that life were so simple. Speaking for myself, as a freelancer I have to take work when it's offered -- and sometimes that means giving up my weekends and changing plans. Does that mean I should not sign up for any event or make any plans, on the offchance that I might have to drop out? If that's the attitude of this group, I guess I don't belong here.

Not the opinion of all Paul - people always drop out of these rallies - that's life - anyone
really wanting a place should have kept the weekend free on the off chance.

As usual, opinions are just like arseholes, everyone has one. Here's mine,,,,, everyone's entitled to prioritize their lives, some, it's money, some it's family, me, I don't like to let people down, I see myself as being reliable and if I say I'll be somewhere that's exactly where I'll be. BUT, that's just me.
So, just you prioritize whatever you like, but don't throw yer toys out of the pram on here. It is irritating to others who couldn't get a place at the rally and now watch as folk pull out for whatever their reasons, but that's just life, as others have pointed out. I'd be unhappy if I had made other arrangements just to see positions open.
Fiona and myself have our waterproofs at the ready and will be leaving the NE of Scotland tomorrow at dawn for the 300 odd mile run south. We're looking forward to seeing all our friends, some from last year, some from more recent. We're looking forward to the challenge of getting down there tomorrow, but looking forward even more to seeing our friends, (you know who you all are), and I've a nice Balvenie signature to sample for you all! We hope to arrive mid to late afternoon.
I'm not knocking folk for prioritizing what they see as important, that's life. I luckily have plenty of money, a nice house, family sorted out, bikes, Landrover and of course, my Fiona! So,,, my priorities are different,,,, BRING ON THE BOIL!!!!!!!!!

These things happen ladies and gents -
I will still be in attendance of course but will not be camping - members are wanting pitches and so mine in up for grabs. I will still be at the event and I will be leading the ride out and eating the curry.
See you in the pub in a bit.
