Do they continue to do all that once they know that you are a soft southerner?

Where we lived until last year (the selfish commuter belt) there was always someone putting salt down on pensioners paths, checking if they didn't see them around for a day, offering to fetch the shopping if the weather was bad and generally doing anything they could to help. Everyone would put their neighbours bins out if they noticed they hadn't been done then put them back in the garden if they were still out late.

It did help that a lot of people had lived in the same road for 40 years so nearly everyone knew each other and were friends but they'd do the same for anyone new who moved into the road. My parents had bought one of those houses when they were built new in 1963 and two couples over the road from where my wife and I bought our house had been there right from the day they were built and remembered my family from when I was a juvenile terrorist aged 5 (thumbs)

Good news, hopefully tomorrow you'll come across a few hundred experienced international trade negotiators who can help us out for say a dozen years or so while we come up with this magical free trade agreement.

No one's denying we'll get through it somehow, the point is, why the bloody hell did we vote to get in 'it' in the first place? Do we really think we'll negotiate a better deal outside of the EU than we were able to inside as one of the very strongest members and, even if so, it will take years, maybe even a decade to sort? We don't even have any international trade negotiators and the EU ones are a bit busy with US for the next few years.

It is for me, got a family of three to take to France 3 or 4 times a year, sometimes that's 5 people if we have the in-laws in tow, then I go over at least twice myself on the bike.

If it's £10 for a visa same as the US, that's going to cost me an extra £160 a year.

Sometimes I get the Eurostar over, and drive their car back in the same day because they are getting a bit old for it and have always been a complete hazard when driving on the left. Bang another £10, just to go collect a car and it's passengers.

And then again they might not!

Many countries have reciprocal arrangements whereas if they can travel to our country without the need for a visa then we can travel to theirs visa free. This I guess would be the arrangement that will try to be thrashed out with the EU.

It's getting a bit weary now people taking any sort of news relating to Brexit and speculating that it's going to be bad news - this is pretty much a non story. "The UK might be charged for visas - on the other hand they might not." wouldn't be much of a headline I suppose !
