Why aren't they out catching murderers and rapartists, that's what I want to know

They dont get paid enough for that, that's far too dangerous you could get hurt fighting murderers

I don't think that's the job of traffic police..... other police departments are available to investigate murder & rape.

I always censor my number plate when posting pictures of my bikes or cars on the net, just because everyone else does it i guess. Ridiculous really, I've irrationally bought into the paranoia that there's an infinitesimally small chance that someone will use my reg number.

Actually, I was trying to inject some humour but obviously failed. Darn smileys, to subtle for their own good.

Actually, it is part of their job. No different to any other officer other than they specialise in Traffic. Just as non Traffic Officers are expected to deal with traffic matters when they come across them.
